I’ve recently been on a sales spree. With a change in season, I look at my wardrobe and realise that I have no clothes..
I can’t help myself with a sale. There’s something about the impulsive nature, the bargain and the fear of missing out that drives me to spend my precious money.
So here’s a run down of top bargains and how to make the most of them.
1. Get in there early
I’ve been invited to the Next VIP sale slot for many years now and I always make sure I get an early slot. But, it’s worth knowing that staff and couriers get first dibs so not everything will be available online.
If you want a better selection, I have a friend who swears by being an early bird at the sales. Be there stupidly early and you’ll get first dibs… Just go with a plan.
For example if you want kids clothes go there first. Kids sale literally fly off the rack!
2. Brand sales under one roof
When you want a bargain but want a big brand – or you’re not sure what you want, head to sale sites.
I grabbed this pair of Converse. Would you believe it if I told you that I’d never owned a pair before? I’ve never been able to justify the cost to myself, but when they’re in the sale? Bingo!
The magic behind this site is that they pull sale stock from loads of brands.
For me this means that I know everything is a bargain. Each listed item also takes you back to the original source so you know you’re getting the real thing! If they have any left, you can find my new shoes in Love the Sale’s Converse store here.
3. Use voucher codes
If you can’t find a sale, look for voucher codes. You can usually find them if you search for the brand and voucher codes.
I recently discovered that funky running gear site Tikiboo (where I got these unicorn running leggings from) has a 10% off code with Run Mummy Run when you use code RMR10.
4. Abandon your basket
Pop something in your basket, set up an account and leave it there. You’ll be amazed at how many sites will offer you money off to complete your sale rather than go elsewhere.
Just make sure that you leave your details – else they won’t have any way of emailing you with that juicy offer!
5. Follow them
Some brands will have social media only discounts so make sure you follow them! The same goes for getting their email newsletters. From flash sales, you need to be the first to know when these happen and be ready to take advantage of them.
6. Use gift voucher sales sites
Did you know that there are sites where you can buy and sell unwanted gift vouchers? As long as you don’t mind buying a high amount, you can save up to 25% just by buying someone else’s unwanted gift card.
7. Think about gifts early!
Okay, so this last one isn’t a hack to find you more bargains, but this one helps me to spread my money further. Birthdays, Christmas – even cards.
It all adds up.
When it comes to buying last minute gifts, we all know that the prices start to get a bit ridiculous. For the convenience of buying late, we pay through the nose. So I start looking for gifts in the summer. Call me crazy but I’m prepared.
We grabbed an ELC bargain for my daughter of a wooden dolls house for only £50 from £100! It’s now taking pride of place in our garage until St Nick comes to pick it up…
If you don’t mind hoarding (and remembering who you got what) you can save a lot of money… And look super generous.
