We were recently invited to the launch of a new party area called ‘The Den’ and play area called ‘Mini Play’ at Telford Lodge Brewers Fayre in Kettering, Northamptonshire and we had a fantastic time.
Special guests included Denis the Menace and his trusty sidekick Gnasher… we obviously had to have a few snaps with them!
The Den children’s party area
The Den is a newly dedicated area of Telford Lodge, Kettering for parties. It’s separated from the main dining area and next to the soft play area for easy access without having to split adults to watch over children. With tiny colourful chairs suitable for small legs, the dining area is custom designed as a fun and attractive place to host a party.
The surroundings include a large printed fabric wall hanging of Denis and Minnie, as well as a vertical flatscreen TV that shows the menu of children’s food, as well as another horizontal flatscreen which shows Beano cartoons.
Helium party balloons, party bags, use of play area and birthday cake* are included for all party guests and they create a great party environment! For the party organiser, the kit also includes invitations and thank you cards which are a god send for parents to save time to have an all inclusive option for organising parties!
The party staff were also fantastic, talking to each child individually and making sure everybody could get involved with the activities if they wanted. We were even given some colouring in to do (it’s amazing how good Georgia is at colouring at 6 months when helped by Mummy and Daddy!). I sincerely think the staff will be the greatest asset to any party held here.
*Included for parties of 8 or more.
What’s in the party bag?
The big party bag that we received included a yo-yo, glittery slinky, stickers and word search activities. What I loved about it was that it is great for both girls and boys, which means that as a parent, you won’t need to go hunting for specific toys for each kid, or gender neutral toys!
Rather than including sandwiches and other finger foods, the food included in the party is lifted straight from the kids menu, including a meal, desert and a drink. All of which are of a great quality and comes to £7.99 per child – which is about average for the hire of a venue for a party including soft play – some local alternatives don’t even include invites/party bags, so this is definitely value for money.
I can also vouch for the food, as I had a Brewers Burger which included a hearty burger in a bun, with a dollop of coleslaw and plenty of chips. Hubby had Smothered Chicken, which was a chicken breast covered in bacon and cheese with a pot of BBQ sauce on the side, chips, coleslaw and a fresh salad.
I’m not going to lie… it wasn’t the most magical or decadent meal we’ve ever had, but it doesn’t try to be. For 2 for £10, it was great quality and just what you need on a weekend when out with the family. Fresh ingredients, nice portion sizes and the chips came out piping hot! I’d say is great value for money.
Mini Play area
Brewers Fayre were also celebrating the launch of their new mini play area, which includes a toddler area with soft play equipment and a two-level soft play area for bigger kids, including a slide, roller and hanging obstacles. Watching the kids run around in countless circuits of the mini play area showed what a success it was. What’s better is that it’s free to use!
You would not believe the difficulty that I’ve had trying to find a free indoor play area in North Northamptonshire as ideas of places we can go to when Georgia is a bit bigger… most of the similar restaurants near me have indoor play equipment, but from a cost of £2.25+ to use the facilities. So it’s a bonus for anybody looking to go out and enjoy dinner with young ones who don’t want to have to fork out more to use the soft play.
It’s also great to know that there are baby changing facilities in both the men’s and women’s toilets which is very inclusive!
We were invited by Brewers Fayre to attend this event but my review of the facilities are my own opinion.
